At CLCircular, we are committed to sustainability and the circular economy. Our reusable IoT sensors significantly reduce the environmental impact associated with monitoring the supply chain compared to disposable devices.
A Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) conducted by GAIKER demonstrates that, in terms of Global Warming Potential (a key metric within the Climate Change impact category), using our reusable sensors reduces CO₂ equivalent emissions by over 96%. For example, while a disposable real-time monitoring device generates approximately 1471 kg of CO₂ eq (98% more emissions), and a disposable wireless device produces 606 kg of CO₂ eq (41.6% more), our reusable sensors only emit 23 kg of CO₂ eq, less than 2% of the impact generated by disposable alternatives.
CO₂ Emissions Comparison with CLCircular sensors
1471 kg de CO₂ eq
606 kg de CO₂ eq
23 kg CO₂ eq
Additionally, in 2024, we achieved a 95% reduction in electronic waste (e-waste) related to monitoring. This calculation is based on the average weight of 20 grams per disposable USB/RFID device replaced.
Our reuse model not only contributes to reducing emissions and waste but also ensures efficient and sustainable monitoring in the supply chain, guaranteeing the quality and safety of transported products while caring for the environment.
By collaborating with carriers, logistics providers, and recovery partners, we create a circular process that maximizes efficiency and minimizes costs. This shared responsibility allows our clients to benefit from real-time data without incurring high sensor ownership costs.
We want to thank everyone involved in the circular process of sensor recovery, from our clients to carriers and recipients, who, with great care and dedication, help us recover the sensors to continue with our sustainability mission!
